Talakadu

Talakad is situated 136 km away from banglore is known for its sand dunes.and it is famous for  panchalinga dharsan is located in the left bank of the kaveri river.Talakad once had over 30 temples that today are buired under the sand.
Among the temples of talakad the five shivatemples called Pathaleswara, Maraleshwara, Arkeswara,Vaidyanatheshwara,MuduhuthoreMallikarjuna.In honour of these five shiva temples a fair is held called panchalinga dharsan last held in 2013.The panchalinga dharsan is held on a new moon day in the month of karthika.
At this day pilgrims took holy dip in the river kaveri and worship vaidyanatheshwara,arkeswara, pathaleswara,maraleshwara and mallikarjuna temples.


 Talakad is one of the Pancha Narayana kshertam where the keerthi Narayana emple was established and presiding diety is Keerthi Narayana.
